STRUCTURED A-FRAME SNAPBACK HONORING THE NEW JERSEY AMERICANS

History: The New Jersey Americans won the ASL championship in 1977 and promptly did something audacious: their commissioner Bob Cousy challenged the NASL champs, the Cosmos — Pelé, Beckenbauer, Warner Communications and all — to play them for the real American soccer title. A second-division club calling out the most famous soccer franchise in the country. The Cosmos didn't respond. The following season the Americans signed Eusébio, the Portuguese star of the 1966 World Cup, but the 36 year-old had already blown his knees and only made eight appearances. The team folded two years later, the Cosmos never having acknowledged them.

This cotton twill ballcap was designed with a retro A-frame silhouette, giving it a structured crown, a 5-panel construction, a pre-shaped bill, and a classic snapback closure. The Americans logo was applied with an embroidered felt patch, honoring the scrappy yet short-lived New Jersey Americans.
