STRUCTURED A-FRAME SNAPBACK HONORING THE DETROIT COUGARS

History: When the United Soccer Association launched in 1967, it took a shortcut: rather than build clubs from the ground up, it imported professional international teams and handed them American identities. The Detroit Cougars were, in reality, Glentoran FC of East Belfast, Northern Ireland — playing one summer in Detroit before returning home. The following year, the USA merged with its rival league to form the NASL, and the Cougars reassembled as an actual Detroit club, backed by Lions owner William Clay Ford and Tigers owner John Fetzer, playing out of Tiger Stadium when the baseball team had the night off. They went 6-12-4 and folded at the end of the season, two years after they'd begun.

This cotton twill ballcap was designed with a retro A-frame silhouette, giving it a structured crown, a 5-panel construction, a pre-shaped bill, and a classic snapback closure. The Americans logo was applied with an embroidered felt patch, honoring the Detroit Cougars, the motor city club with roots in Belfast.a
