WOOL BALLCAP WORN BY THE 1933 PITTSBURGH CRAWFORDS
History: The 1933 Pittsburgh Crawfords were one of the Negro National League’s most formidable clubs, boasting a lineup filled with future Hall of Famers including Oscar Charleston, Cool Papa Bell, and Satchel Paige. That season, the Crawfords dominated league play and laid the foundation for their reputation as a Negro League powerhouse in the mid-1930s — a team whose blend of speed, power, and skill helped define Pittsburgh’s rich Black baseball heritage.
To honor that historic squad, we recreated their on-field cap using genuine wool broadcloth and classic felt lettering — a faithful tribute to the style worn at Greenlee Field.
