Chicago Cats - The Watergate of Soccer

Founded by a local dentist and playing their first game sixteen days after their announcement, the Chicago Cats were a half-baked endeavor. They finished last in '75 but played well in '76, until ASL commissioner Bob Cousy — yes, Hall of Fame point guard Bob Cousy — unjustly gave their playoff spot away. Their owner likened it to Watergate and sued, but the league terminated the franchise anyway.
